The complaint alleged that defendants deprived plaintiffs of civil rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution by "deliberately assaulting and battering [plaintiffs] without just cause or provocation, by imprisoning [plaintiffs] without reasonable cause or warrant, and by willfully threatening to shoot and injure [plaintiffs]."
